Scorpion® Truck Mounted Attenuator

The Scorpion® Truck Mounted Attenuator sets new standards for economy, easy of use, and safety for all mobile attenuators. With its modular design, the Scorpion® Trailer Attenuator crushes in progressive stages upon impact, absorbing much of the energy of the crash and also reducing repair costs of damaged parts after an accident. Scorpion's durable construction and heavy duty tubular side rails minimize incidental back-up or turning damage, and the unique curved design redirects side angle impacts away from the exposed corner of the truck.

Single point attachment to standard 20 Ton (minimum) rated pintle hook is quick and easy; the Scorpion Truck Mounted Attenuator can be easily and quickly mounted to or removed from the truck. It requires little or no modification to the host vehicle or any additional mounting hardware (1/2” thick x 32” wide minimum pintle hook mounting plate required). Alternatively, the Scorpion® TMA Fast-Trak SwiftConnect™ can be used to eliminate the need for a single dedicated host vehicle and quickly connect the Scorpion® TMA

The Scorpion® Truck Mounted Attenuator has been tested and PASSED ALL optional and mandatory requirements suggested in the NCHRP-350 Report for TL-3 evaluation criteria for speeds up to 62.5mph (100km/h). It is the only trailer attenuator tested and approved when attached to a 10,000lb host vehicle (caution – forward roll of host vehicle was 64 feet when impacted by a 4,500lb truck traveling at 63.5 mph).

The Scorpion® Trailer Attenuator's low profile and open tubular design is beneficial in minimizing wind resistance and drag, allowing you to drive at freeway speeds safely, as well as increasing rear visibility and gas mileage. Overall length of the Scorpion® Trailer Attenuator is only 13 feet, the shortest on the market. The lightweight aluminum construction minimizes rust and other corrosive elements, yet it weighs only 1,800 lbs and comes with a hydraulic system which allows the cartridge to be partially raised for maximum road clearance and maneuverability.
